The Unraveling

The Unraveling

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

We sometimes lose sight

Of what’s important in life

When what’s in our view is only

 What we need to survive

I promised him I’d give my best

He promises that the best is yet to come

He renews my mind and rebuilds my heart

In his presence I come undone

Because of who’s I am and not who I am

That I might be in his presence on this day

I can feel him all around me

When all fear from hell is wiped away

Changing me from the inside out

Where my everything bows before you

I was never in control

I will sacrifice my body

Just to save my soul

When this day sees the setting sun

It will find me in his presence

Where I will come undone

When my mind and my heart

Have finally become as one

Mr. Lopez, this is so pretty. I sense such a kindness within your spirit. I do. Again, colour...striking, not only in presentation but in sincerity of heart. I know sometimes I lose sight of what's really important, but hopefully I am learning. There is such inspiration in your verse, a sense of renewal....awakening as we change from the inside out, and the mind and body become one. So touching...incredibly heart - felt.

I totally agree with Dani. This is a wise and profound piece of writing but also of feeling. Until a few weeks ago I would have had no idea what you were talkig about, I am so very glad that I do know now. "We sometimes lose sight" truer words were never spoken my friend. the important thing is to get that "view" back where it belongs, is it not? AS for the writing itself I found it flowed, rhymed and had imagery one can only wait for. Well done, one of your very best my friend. ;)

Powerful words. It shows how full and complete we can be with Him in our hearts and souls. We are loved for our imperfections and given the power to become whole. We are loved wholey and fulley without and prejudges of who and what we are. Very inspirational and moving. Captures the love of a Higher Power and the love for a Higher Power

Nice job! Man, when I wrote "undone" i my poetry, I was writing about something sensual, hee hee, so you use it a better way, about God and how we should rely on HIm through hard times, thick and thin.

"I was never in control

I will sacrifice my body

Just to save my soul"

A very poignant line right there. I mean, t hink about it, Jesus made the sacrifice for US, so we should sacfirice for him. What people fail to realize is that our bodies are NOT OUR OWN...they belong to HIm.

Good job!!

This is your best. Yes, I realize I've said that before, however your work seems to get better and better everytime I read you... truly.

"I was never in control
I will sacrifice my body
Just to save my soul.."

Bingo! When we hand over the steering wheel and trust (completely), then it all falls right into place, as it should. BUT, we can never seem to take our hands completely off that wheel. We say we have that kind of faith, but do we really? Tough one to answer, but the way I see it ... if we did, then every moment would be filled with joy and happiness... and since we seem to suffer a lot, my guess is -- our faith is lacking somewhere.

This is a wonderfully wise and profound piece my friend!!
A real beauty!
