Frequently Stirred

Frequently Stirred

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Frequently Stirred

A precipitation of rain

begins to fall

drop by drop

it’s audible sound

instills the ground,

anointing my soul

like a bowl of soup

frequently stirred.

Self awareness, that is the key. Knowing where we are both mentally and spiritually. Fine work.

I'm thrilled you enjoyed it, Terry. Thank you.
and just what is in that soup?
a recipe for introspection, peace, and love?
a heart and soul stirred with a movement toward contentment.

Perhaps I should share my marketing skills with Campbells, huh? Lol, thanks so much, Jacob!
I loved the clear images of rain in the first three lines. Your rhymes in the second and third lines brings the sound of the rain to life. I can almost hear large droplets plopping on city streets and sidewalks. The simile in the last three lines impeccably describes the feeling of spiritual revitalization that rain brings to earth. Well done, Kelly.

Love the picture with this. There is a sensuality here...there's nothing like a cleansing rain.

:) you are welcome moonmaiden :)
There is great value in contemplation (doesn't really matter what you think about as long as it doesn't sink into despair or any other truly negative vibe) but we have so little time for it these days. Meaningful pauses while staring into our bowls of soup (or did I mean souls of soup?) or out of a rain spattered window panes can slowly adjust our world back to where we need it to be. The soup gets cold, of course, but by now we all likely have microwaves. You said it wonderfully well, and much more succinctly, in this piece Kelly. It made me contemplate many things... Well done!

You are most welcome. Your poetry is much deeper than mine and I enjoy reading you Kelly.
The words of this poem are themselves like raindrops, bringing moisture to the reader's mind.....wonderful images......I am looking to the sky, hoping for clouds...:)
