The Nightingale sings.

Its piercing shrill impales me.

I bleed muted words.

Sheesch, Dear Kelly!

Your words may be muted, but not so those composing your Senryu, that yell volumes of saturated angst (from the nightingale's song?). Could it really be this that prompted such a powerfully striking outpour?

I mean, I've heard of those who abhor raucous, incessant caws of the crow, or shattering screeches of the barn owl, but the beautifully captivating, endless array of varied sounds from the nightingale, I never heard making anyone bleed muted words, but I may have gotten it wrong … I've been known to do that before. : )

MMmmm … a delicious picture adorning this excellently penned, appealingly displayed, spot-on count piece.

I know equating the nightingale's song with pain may be hard to fathom, but after a heart is broken, perhaps even the lofty breeze from a willow can cause the heart to shatter. I am growing accustomed to your face...and I thank you for your most kind analogy!

The sadness of not being able to enjoy the nightingale because of pain and loss as your heart bleeds in poetic mourning so well captured in this senyru Kelly.

Perhaps one would not parallel "a piercing shrill" from a nightingale to impale a heart, but when the heart has been broken, even something as beautiful as its song could drown the heart in pain. Thank you for seeing that, John.

Bloody brilliant Kelly!! I got this vision of you being pierced by an invisible shaft of sound and the words escaping your lips are red inside word bubbles, yes i'm weird but its a great thing to be so inspired, maybe it will make me write better but for sure you are already a writer supreme, the short Senryu is a difficult form to instill meaning into so few words but you did so and the pictures derived from this are amazing, flying like the Nightingale around my head, great poem straight in my library so i can read always :)

i like the irony of this...the nightingale is supposed to have a song of peace and love...this is the opposite, although this means to me...that the song remains the same, but sound shrill to the one who has lost her love.
