Scars to your beautiful

Scars to your beautiful

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...domestic abuse

"

Scars to your beautiful

the black and blue

is camouflaged

underneath

a bed of lies

no one sees

the true facade

there are scars

to your beautiful.

Thank you so much, Rach. Hope your lil prince and you are doing well!
I think Charlie Rich sang, "Behind closed doors" and that song came to mind as I read your words, Kelly. You are the master of getting your point across with so few words. Excellent. Lydi**

Thank you, Lydi! I think that song is more of a love song. I appreciate the compliment, always!

I think you capture the essence of this in a freeze frame of a short verse description Kelly. I did play with the thought of 'You're Beautiful' as in the tension between the words and the deeds of perpetrators. I was once subjected to domestic abuse, although my wife at the time had a major illness. It is not an easy thing to deal with.

...ok, you've lost me. Please explain.
We never know what goes on behind closed doors. This made me think of Ike and Tina Turner's story.
You handled this very well Kelly.

You are too kind, Eve, and I am most appreciative! x
You've done a good job with your conjecture. It is not always necessary to write from personal experience. The imagination is a powerful tool for any writer.
Scars are tattoos with better stories.
Good write, Kelly

You are welcome Kelly.
What's not seen is too often the greatest of all scars. No matter the actual shade, they colour life itself, they diminish. This poem seems to be a plea for renewal somehow.. for wanting to start again or walk away, if one ever can.

Your poem's brevity has enormous power, Kelly. (You and your thoughts)
