Analogy of a book

How much

like a book

we are

with an introduction

a beginning

and a climax

with a spine

and a voice

that speaks

metaphorically

we are

statistically categorized

by numbers

and names

all our lives

immensely filled

with chapters

and hours

and time

ever fleeting

with knowledge

and journeys

and joys

far exceeding

the price

we pay

...thank you, Andrew!
Nicely captured Kelly. They do say each of us has a book in them, which I doubt is correct, as I know some who would struggle to have a piece of advice in them...And most probably I would/'t have much more than a pamphlet.
But as your analogy points out, perhaps we are our own book, awaiting the ink.
Beautifully expressed.

my pleasure :)
I love the way your poem starts out with the mechanics of a literal comparison, but then gradually drifts further & further into areas of more depth & character. In this way, it gives the sensation of building to a crescendo, a brilliant way to show this aspect, as well as mentioning it in your message! *smile* Fondly, Margie

A very well thought out analogy Kelly. I agree so much on the price. We are offered so much for so little. Thank you for this gem.

You touched on it with this poem, each and everyone of us are a book... some of my chapters need to be rewritten I feel, but I know someone is reading me and saying his ending will be better.. Thank you for sharing Kelly...

Thank you Kelly..
I agree Kelly. We are a book. To know someone properly. They must allow us to read their private chapters and truly understand them. I loved how you made the words understandable and worthwhile. Many kind of books. Each of us have been taught different lessons. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
