Janis

Janis

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...to commemorate the death of Janis Joplin

"

janis

she died alone

an accidental overdose

in a seedy Hollywood hotel

a needle shot into her veins

a potent batch of heroin

with the velocity of

a runaway train

Even knowing her story... your words still give it all a pretty tough punch to the gut.

What a world this would be, if Janis were still here! Thank you, Travis!
I have a Janis bio on DVD & I never get tired of watching it. You sum up the thing that gets caught in our brains, unable to process (((HUGS)))

A sad comment on a super star, not surprising, but very sad; she was such a great singer, died too young, a very soulful person and and a great loss to all who loved her as a person and as an artist.
Great!
Best, B.

You're very welcome!
a bleak glimpse, well and starkly told, into a songful soul, and so many of them, who died too young.

Kelly! your closing sends chills up and down me face and arms ... Janis was most certainly a runaway train... big time ... too many died alone and by accident as a result of various overdosing ... Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, Ginger Baker ... oh man! the list is staggering ... just counting the 60s and 70s :( None of them will ever be forgotten tho ... the sadness for me is in the music they "might have" made having lived longer. Just think ... she could be living in LA .. still sipping Southern Comfort ... thanks for sharing Legs! It's a good thing to remember eh!?

yes she did! ... a little stout for me ;}
She was as real as the shards of glass in her whisky voice. Her notes were as raw as her life. You captured the tragedy of her ending perfectly in this moving memorial dear Kelly. Too soon, too soon. I question it. I wanted to be her- envied her kick-a*s unapologetic freedom. Didn’t you?
P.S. love to you & Ollie too xo
