i miss the two a.m. conversations

we had on the phone…

whenever my end would go silent

he would say, “talk to me…”

then suddenly it was as if

the miles and space between us

and the circumference of the world around us

was obliterated within

the exaltation of a sigh.

I was leaning more into the way he said "talk to me". The manner in which he spoke that left her unable to resist. Lovely to see a post from you Kelly. Yes, the telephone has that ability to draw people together, even though they may be thousands of miles apart. Many a love affair has been conducted over the phone. I met my husband once and didn't see him again for several months. We had a long distance telephone romance. I understand those sighs. So relatable and beautiful is this piece. Brings back memories. Hope you are happy and well.

Thanks Kelly.. It's my mum and dad, newly engaged as teenagers. I love that photo so much. Been thinking about them alot recently, since my mum died in Feb.

I remember about your Mom. I hadn't seen you about as usual, and knew something was off. Call it a women's intuition, right? My parents married at 18 and 19 years of age, back in 1947. I think of them often. They are always with us, no matter how old we are! Much love, my friend!
