A Gibbous Moon

A Gibbous Moon

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

A Gibbous Moon

infatuated am i

besotted,

beguiled

by a waning gibbous moon

its convex shape

makes lucent the night

orchestrating a galaxy of stars

in a celestial dance

my heart with wild abandon, beats

erratically,

tempestuously

in sweet anticipation of you

meet me there

when night is nigh

i’ll be wearing moonlight in my hair

‘neath a gibbous moon.

The moon has always had that allure, regardless of her state of fullness. 'Gibbous' is such an interesting word to describe that almost three quarter state of fullness. Love and desire will always spring into life under the light of the moon and it will be written in the stars. A romantic piece, Kelly.

I love the wordage, so flowing and tender; never, heard of a Gibbous moon, but it's stunning; You portray this moon with passion, dazed by its elegance, wonder, of the cosmos and the immensity of it all.
I feel like I'm standing there next to you gazing and mesmerized.
Thanks Kelly for sharing!
Best, B

One of my favorite writers HP Lovecraft would often use the phrase, Gibbous Moon, in his writing which I oftened loved. Often to set tone with a sense of dread in his tales. I enjoyed how you have used it far differently as a yearning. An enthralling piece of poetry that captures the reader with the word painted image of a gibbous moon. I enjoyed this poem and sensuous message.

A K. Schepper's visit is always is always a pleasure and a gibbous moon leaving sunlight in your hair makes for that extra touch of romance.
If he is foolish enough to pass on by and I can get both of my legs working simultaneously, no need having that moon go to waste??
BTW wonderful image
