Stand Aside

Stand Aside

A Poem by MusicLove93
"

Feeling like you're not good enough.

"
Stand aside, for it’s not you we want to see.
We want to see the other person.
The one you’ll never be.
We want to see he who sticks out in a crowd;
The on who talks to much
And laughs too loud.
Stand aside so we may congratulate them
The ones that skate through life,
The ones everyone call a gem,
The ones who’ve never known strife.
They ride by on their high horses,
Not bothering to watch their step.
They believe they’re such unstoppable forces,
So bright and full of pep.
Stand aside and let these good people through.
Just stand in their shadows,
And watch as they smile, nod, and bow on cue.

This was amazing and quite relatable piece. I loved reading this. I really did. I've been there. I have thought like this about people. I'm shy and I have always felt people wanted me to be outgoing loud mouth and rejected me when I didn't comply. I have met people who feel they have a privilege to put others down and step over them. This poem was excellent! The rhyme scheme was flawless and didn't seem forced. Great Job!

I've thought this about other people before that intimidate me. This was I assume....... an emotional write for you?

I've writtn in a poem:
Can I stand behind you? They might blow out my light.........making my day a darker night!

I know what you are feeling. :)

A fair level of sarcasm and reality - and its "shaken not stirred".

As I read this poem I felt very small.
You did a great job of building up the tension
and putting the special people on the pedestal...

but in the end....
You left me with a feeling that there is a secret
that you are going to share with us all.....
A truth never before unearthed.

really captured the feeling of being overlooked..gosh self esteem is something that has to be built but as we all know you need strong foundation to be build upon..that is the people you surround yourself with..

I understand thar society sets stands and common goals. Trying to ensure 'conformists' in society. However, i find that this has gone wrong. Now it seems that they expect ppl to be all formed from the same mold and constantly tryin to stop individualism (though they may claim differently). Not of of us have the same personality an so we all are destined to be different. Tht makes it so sad when the bunch certain traits together an tell us we have to reflect this inordr to be 'good people'.
We are who we are an and as long as we're pleasing God it doesnt matter.
I like this poem because it is so vry true and very creative (contrasting your message:) Taking a stand are we?lol)

Being hidden in the shadow of another, most of my life, can give you a distorted picture of those around you when that person is no longer in front of you. Those that look down on others just have to wait for the shadow to block them as is it becomes their turn. Well expressed in these lines you have penned and shared. I liked it very much. :)
