I find this first attempt already good (well, I can also say far better than my first quatrain).

Rhyming achieved in AABB format, but I am not sure about the meter taken which is also very important in penning formal poetry. In another way around, when I read it aloud the piece produced music to the ear, which is the very goal of metering. Just keep the attempt going mate.
