One doesn't need a rose to express their love

FRAGRANCE OF WORDS

Wrinkled, delicate, but most beautiful  

The petals of a flower appear,   

Soft as the touch of a wool    

Flowers are always dear.   

Trapped inside a book    

One preserves them for remembrance,   

Behold the beauty; have a look   

Also, pleasing is its fragrance.  

Many flowers, for different occasion 

Symbolise death and also passion,  

They bring joy to our hearts without any reason  

Everblooming they are, filled with compassion.  

Detached from the stem, petals lay above,

Does one need a rose to express their love?

Author's Note

My idea to write this poem is to appreciate the beauty of a flower and also to convey a message that one doesn't need a rose to express their love. No doubt flowers symbolise passion but that's not necessary to express the depths of love.
A flower's beauty is more when it is surrounded by its leaves and natural environment, not by plucking it to appreciate its beauty.

A bunch of 12 red roses (Israeli Gold Standard) this year at St Valentine's cost me £50 !!
They lasted 9 days in a vase - she told me. I think the flowers=romance scam has gone too far.
