Love and Warm Toast

Love and Warm Toast

A Poem by Neville
"

Sunny daze indeed. Just add butter & honey

"

‘Love and Warm Toast’

The breeze that blows across the field

Carries the scent of various wild grasses

Feral flowers and the cereal farmer’s gold

Later

The miller with his cool and calloused fingers

Shall fashion and form

Each golden husk into breakfast

Thus

Reminding me of my mother as a young woman

Many years ago now but always

Smiling and smelling of love and warm toast

Beautiful, Neville. Your images are so vivid, I can actually see the wild grasses and the fond memory of your mother. Strange how oftentimes the landscape forces us to think about the times we either had fun or spent with our family. Great write, as usual.

how can anyone but the most callous and spiteful be ruthless, Neville ;) mom and warm toast!!!! c'mon ... young men are made of such things my friend ... that's why women admire a man that appreciates moms ...
creative original form ... i like it! the one word interludes are almost like another character ... behind the scenes directing the play going on ... love your "Feral flowers..." and "...cereal farmer’s gold" ... you struggled for those didn't you? ;) our moms are the best sir!

I do love a bit of natures aromatherapy, and how it can instantly transport us back in an instant to these moments that made us. Pipe tobacco reminds me of my grandpa, home baking my gran, Betting shop pens, my dad and a pot of soup my mum.
Warm toast is a great one too, but can I have lime marmalade please :)
A wonderful memory, beautifully captured by your pen/keyboard etc :)
