Those were the Days

Those were the Days

A Poem by Neville
"

for some, these words may be a warm reminder.. for others, maybe something to look forward to...

"

Those were the Days

I remember days

Much like today

When the sun

shined so bright

The world could only

Be seen

Through half opened

Scrunched up eyes

Yes, those were

The days

When colours had

A shimmer and a

Meaning and a

Purpose

And they always

Matched

The test pot tops

Even on those

Rare Wet days

Everything still

Stayed so perfectly

Dry and warm

When blues were

Too numerous

To number and

Only babies ever cried

Last night I had a real downer. I started to dwell on what ifs. What if we don't get a vaccine, what if scientists can't come up with suitable medications to save lives. What if this is the new normal and we don't ever get back to what we had before. When I was pondering on how bleak that would be, I started to think of my grandchildren and sighed heavily. I have had a life of freedom. I haven't experienced restrictions before. How lucky I have been. If the colour fades for me, then so be it, but others will suffer far more. That is where I wandered in the avenues of your stanzas.

How very true Neville. The sun is splitting the sky here today (No, really!) and that's after having snow on the hills yesterday, and I noticed how the sky was that kind of Mediterranean pale blue, which is the closest any of us will get to a summer holiday unless we start swimming now.
Also strange, in a spooky biscuits way, as when i visited my neighbour yesterday (i mean, of course in a completely social distancing kind of way) she was messing around with test pots and stencils, as those lady type girlies do. Whereas us blokey bloke blokes justmove furnitureto hide scuffs and stains. Bless 'em.
Ps... Only kidding ladies. 😀
