Listen to those children crying, all are hungry, while some of course are dying

and the water here is more alive and crawling

than elsewhere, in so many other places darling, what are we gonna do ..

A compassionate question posed on a subject that is dear to your heart. It is heart wrenching to know that children are dying because they don't have access to something we take for granted. You have been to Africa, so you would have seen this first hand. Sobering poem Neville.

those words of yours are indeed true words Gee .. and I have no objection to them or the largely western model you refer to .. after all, most households pay for that which they use .. I am more concerned with access to and the availability of clean & correspondingly safe water for those who dont have it on tap ..

Clean water is a huge concern for so many in Africa. My daughter spent four years in Africa doing humanitarian work as the director of a Christian non-profit organization. She worked with displaced youth, primarily. Her position with the organization employing her was lost however after the near collapse of The World Bank which provided her funding. But she gained a vast trove of life experience in her time there including becoming fluent in Afrikaans. I'm happy she had the opportunities to do as much as she has. She's also been a National Park Ranger and a concierge at a private resort. She now works as a licensed nutritionist and doula providing nutritional information and pregnancy support to expecting families here in the States. She's also mom to my three beautiful grandchildren. I enjoyed reading your humanitarian poem.

three cheers for your daughter sir .. we need more of em like that .. a whole lot more & I am proud to say that my daughter is a good example having spent much time volunteering in Colombia .. way back when it was really dangerous.

Ah, we're both blessed with great kids, then. It makes you feel like you haven't failed the world when your children try to make it a better place. We want them safe but what is a life lived if we never step out of our comfort zone? Keep up the good work, my friend.

Africa is also another victim, all these poor yet rich with raw materials countries are victims of a society that is only based on greed and money. people and souls for them are nothing... they are fields for their experiments. how cruel and horrible.

absolutely lightsong .. Africa is where I have done the majority of my voluntry work to date and hope to return there as soon as I am able ....... N
