Please, have a drink with me

Please, have a drink with me

A Poem by Nick.B
"

Just wanted to show, some sort of respect...I don't know, I just thought one day looking at the empty glass at this poem and thought of someone...

"
Everyone needs time alone,
hist time to shine,
his time so say "never again",
but this box is getting smaller, I'm trying to escape,

I've reached a new low, and been sentenced to death row,
looking at this bottle to say something,
only I can hear voices screaming "please, have a drink with me",
but now no more, it's time for a change,

Maybe taking a new highway will help get me out of this rage,
lost all hope in friends and family,
I'm on my own, facing this monster with honesty.

This road I walk is very dark,
making me think that I am forever trapped in this never ending walls.
Trying to escape this crazy place,
But I only hear one voice "please, have a drink with me".

Once upon a time, I had a best friend who had a drinking problem, I tried to get him into recovery but he didn't want to, when things started getting worse he agreed on going to get help but it was just....too late.

Thanks for the review
Every stanza's filled with your DEPTH and REALITY. Nicely penned once again you did a great job. Your flow of writing's great. I must say, you have to write some more new pieces.
Well written. Keep writing.

Something about this poem is very relatable. The way you expressed raw emotion in not so many words makes me think that everyone hits low moments in life, even me. Your poem will continue to leave me thinking...nicely done!

Thanks...
This is a really great poem. The idea can relate to everyone in one way or another, be it alcohol or any other sort of abusive substance.
I Like the format of this. It doesn't rhyme but organised well.

Very relatable piece, you've punched up the frustration here and the hopelessness of this addiction.

Very powerful use of words. I can relate to this piece as my Mother is an alcoholic, and has been for the last 34 years. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry to hear that, I appreciate your review...
I can feel the sadness in this poem... the two sides of an addict's personality : to drink or not to? Very heartbreaking but this is a beautiful piece at the same time !
