Please, have a drink with me

Please, have a drink with me

A Poem by Nick.B
"

Just wanted to show, some sort of respect...I don't know, I just thought one day looking at the empty glass at this poem and thought of someone...

"
Everyone needs time alone,
hist time to shine,
his time so say "never again",
but this box is getting smaller, I'm trying to escape,

I've reached a new low, and been sentenced to death row,
looking at this bottle to say something,
only I can hear voices screaming "please, have a drink with me",
but now no more, it's time for a change,

Maybe taking a new highway will help get me out of this rage,
lost all hope in friends and family,
I'm on my own, facing this monster with honesty.

This road I walk is very dark,
making me think that I am forever trapped in this never ending walls.
Trying to escape this crazy place,
But I only hear one voice "please, have a drink with me".

Once upon a time, I had a best friend who had a drinking problem, I tried to get him into recovery but he didn't want to, when things started getting worse he agreed on going to get help but it was just....too late.

That friend of yours had better relied on a real friend like you than on a false one like alcohol.
It makes a poor substitute like so many things we try to compensate our loneliness, sorrow, sadness, pain etc. with. The kind of things that make us forget, but can't make anything go away, and only leave us with regret.
It's people conviction of the fact that they can still turn around when they're heading towards a dead end on a one-way-road, and when they finally realize they are going nowhere, they are already on their way down the deep dark pit.
Great poem that, I think, greatly represents the routine of any addict in general, and alcoholism sure is one hell of an addiction.

Thank you, I appreciate it
This is sad Nicky. I feel your pain, and the burden is heavy on your heart. Drinking is a trap in itself. It can lead to dark and dangerous places. I've been there as a bystander to the pain, helpless. This is a well expressed piece.

Thank you
wow. My grandfather is a drunk but unloike your friend he doesn't want help. He knows I am 16 but still asks me to have a drink with him every now and then. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. He is slowly going away but I will only remember the good old days when he was sober. He complains about wanting to stop but never tries. Well, I say, it's your life.
