Filling the Shoes of Tomorrow

Filling the Shoes of Tomorrow

A Poem by Nihilitia
"

55 Fiction (a short story with fifty five words or less)

"
Every morning he hastily put on his shoes to farm oysters.
A pebble within one shoe, his only remissness, always evoked a grimace.
Every night he hurried home to sleep for the morrow.
Supporting his family until the day he died when his granddaughter's foot found itself within his shoe curiously pulling out a pearl.

this so heart wrenching...the pearl rather than a pebble when his granddaughter's foot goes into the shoe...she felt her grandad was a pearl...

i like the word "grimace"--no that's not true....i love the word "grimace"

and how you fit it in here.

a nice story within a few lines...this is like Hemmingway...so few words, so much said.

life is hard and then you die...but it is good when we can leave some legacy.
