Shadows

Shadows

A Poem by NoireWriter
"

This about trying to forget the past and previous mistakes by getting drunk. ***TRIGGER WARNING*** depression, sadness, alcohol references, etc.

"
The sounds of lighters flicking.
The smell of alcohol in the air.
Our bodies are sickening.
But we don't hold any care.
Party like the end of the world.
Well it will be if we don't stop.
Tipsy feet, clumsily twirl.
Our lives being ripped away, robbed.
Smoke clouds our bloodshot eyes.
Clothing disappearing and careless acts.
We can't stop but we say we can as lies.
But our highs are momentary, something lacks.
Finding a stronger release,
Anything for a longer dose.
Brains shutting down, thoughts seize.
Mindless actions to bring us over the edge, close.
But in the morning we regret,
tell ourselves never will I do it twice.
But we start all over to forget.
It's less pain than paying the price.
