The Final Battle

The Final Battle

A Poem by L. Catherine

Typhon the destroyer comes

and as the giant of storms, he will destroy all.

The gods ascend upon his mighty form.

All is silent as they slowly approach the demonic being.

Zeus, king of the gods, let your bolt make its mark

and forbid this creature's mayhem.

Poseidon, lord of the seas, raise your comrads

and let their rampaging fury come in wakes.

Hades, lord of the Underworld, awaken the dead

and let their bones crush all in their path.

Artemis, lady of the wild, let your arrows hit straight and true

and let them blind the enemy you face.

Athena, lady of the battlefield, guide these brilliant warriors

with your wisedom and lead these brilliant warriors into battle.

All prepare for the unknown and

even the oracle is mystified by the outcome.

Let the game begin...

Greek mythology....its been a while. All I learn in school now is about Victorian and Renaissance stuff. The funny thing is we got our stories and myths, from the Greeks. Nice poem!

A finely penned mix of mythology and imagery. Paints vivid pictures of confusion and suspense.

Hoe merrily inure, a true clash of the titians, roar of the gods type prose. I imagine it would sit well in a literary college class as a simple yet effective writing on the subject of mythology, well done great read.
