Landmines

Landmines

A Poem by Molly

Stepping on landmines light as a feather,
wishing to guard you and make you all better
because I see trouble and wounds so infected
and I love you and want you all safe and protected

Oh please keep your breathing steady and cool
to put you through fire is unwise and cruel
but nobody's perfect but they're trying to be
but these crosses cut deeper than I think we can see

Hard to let go and so hard to ignore
Can you forget what has happened before..?
But you need to forgive so you all can get better
release all that weight and be light as a feather

I watch all these people, the ones I admire
with whispering voices voicing their ire
But please keep in mind that your schism may show
Stop placing landmines where your children go

It's hurting me this silent strife
the battle won by none
I wish for you a better life
once all is said and done
