NEEDING BACKUP

NEEDING BACKUP

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Needing a plan and a friend or two in uncertain times.

"
NEEDING BACKUP

A backup plan is what we need
When life betrays our trust.
The songs we sang in former times
Lie strewn and pocked with rust.

The ferrier who shoes the horse
Lies trampled by the steed...
And farmers cannot plow the sod
Where all had turned to weeds.

Each prairie dog soft-barks the day
With tiny hands upraised.
And opens eyes to sun and birth
Where common things are praised.

The backup plan sets well the stage
Where darkness turns to light...
And needles poised to pierce the skin
Have given up their fight.

Your lines dear Sharon have solid rhythm and rhyme. Wonderful classical style. We all need a plan B. Right this minute in time most are still working on it. We need a strategy for eventually leaving lockdown. That is going to take some considerable thought. Keep safe and well dear poet.

WOW. I LOVED this! The writing is exceptional as well as the content. It's cohesive and easily understood and the rhyme doesn't seem forced or shallow. I'll be reading more of your work. I thoroughly enjoyed. F.

It would be nice to have a back up plan for what the world is going through right now. The metaphors here are superb. Such a lyrical write, Sharon. As always, your rhythm is enchanting. Lydi**

Lyrical write and great comment on our times, Plan B is sorely needed as we watch the human and financial cost accumulate.

like old time poetry...rhythmic and dancing into our minds. We have to have a plan B...something has to work to get life back to normal...pretty scary times not knowing when, or even if.

Such a beautifully paced and rhymed piece. I really like the imagery of the lines "Each prairie dog soft-barks the day With tiny hands upraised." (Makes me think of "Make a joyful noise."). ~Jim

Loved this. Read so easily the rhythm and rhyme excellent.
What plan would have been any use in these worrying times.
Should ferrier be farrier ??
