A.D. Metaphysics

A.D. Metaphysics

A Poem by Jonhoi Vaughn
"

A questioning of existence, collective human motives and a brief look at perhaps bizzare "could-have-beens".

"

Static…
Slow, then eratic movements.
A strange colony… peculiar breed.
No hibernation. Only civilized nomadity.
Slaving away, they must earn their god.

With teething intelligence and creeping minds,
Conquering even more so amongst themselves,
Each being lives in a duplicated universe.
Universe? Multiverses? Dots in the Vacuum?

Silly monkeys stretching for bananas,
From the nearest wallet of the camouflaged zoo keepers;
Clark Kent kissing Kryptonite crystals,
Malcolm X sipping Kool-Aid with KLU KLUX KLAN?!
Jack without Jill climbing hill with Jim?
Satan on the cross dying for our transactions?
“In God We Trust”, motto of the Red, White and Screwed?
Where is the Epistemology?
What is it to be human?

"Slaving away, they must earn their god." Loved the line.
Poor Darwin and the beast he leashed. He could not have foreseen how our knowledge of our animal nature would crush our dreams of divinity. This monkey sees the world as a collection of bones and upright water columns. . .
Desmond Morris says it best -
"Human beings are animals. We are sometimes monsters, sometimes magnificent, but always animals. We may prefer to think of ourselves as fallen angels, but in reality we are risen apes."

while I wait for the day that my 'words meet metal' . . . I'll come back to these words as an example of what they should be
