the Cement flower

the Cement flower

A Poem by AiH

the rivers of my black hair
wind around the valley of my cheeks
it sticks to my eyelashes
like pollen to a flower
I am an expansive landscape
with winding waters
deep valleys
and tall mountains
so why do I feel
like a patch of grass
trying to grow
in nothing
but cement?
