Love's Breaths Denied

Love's Breaths Denied

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Still here in my breast lies love!

"

Love's Breaths Denied

I bow to you fair lady

whose pen, whose words,

leave shadows

on the greatest bards.

And who can command

such beauty to mine eyes

with such eloquent,

evocative and exquisite

verse.

You paint in pastel

shades as letters

spill across your pages.

You bring us rainbows

and angels, and unicorns.

You show us fairies and

mists and springtimes,

and the most perfect

of romantic notions.

Yet still you would

wield a sword

and cut me

to the quick.

Such words that can make or break the heart. Your longing is very tangible here. I like how well you have expressed the attraction towards someone that can do this to you.

Sounds like some of the people who are now or have been on WC. We are all multi-faceted beings. We can be sweet in some situations and then downright evil in others. If you love someone, though, you love every part of them....and take the good with the bad. Very romantic write. Reminds me of the classics. So when did you change your name? Lydi**

Hey, my memory is not what it used to be, John!
Such a beautifully presented, writ, and expressed poem of romance, yearning, poignancy, and at last, angst, glorify, entreat, gladden, and sadden the senses … the whole gambit of emotion is wrung from the mind, heart, and soul, but one thing is clear, John. the passion of love inspired and drove these words to flow from your wondrously appealing pen.
A most splendid Free Verse, and the only suggestion I can make is to separate your verses, each into their own deserved moment.

May your days, My Fine Poet Friend, be spent warmed in the healing glow of life's heart-warming sunshine! ⁓ Richard

Thank you Richard for such fulsome praise and support and guidance, truly valued.
This was a good read for me John. I enjoyed the words and how it flowed so effortlessly. You leave me the question I ponder, is this a poet you speak of?

I speak of all poets Robert. Many thanks.
Reminds me of those executioners. But there's something romantic about them too..You never know what lies in those black eyes behind the mask.Their axe is a sort of mode through which a different kind of art is produced-------may be a bloody art.Though this lady you described here is not an executioner but is typically a shrewd artist like him.............A nasty artist,I would say who would not even hesitate to chop off the head.Wonderful:)

Are you using my twists for an ending, in a captivating Alfred Hitchcock write so smooth layered out poetically then psycho in the shower lashes out! Structured are the dreams laid out then torn without notice! Great work John!
