Writing To SurviveA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenDo we write because we must to stay in the circle?Writing To Survive I become stuck to the fly screen of the digital age, where the swarms of poets words become ensnared in the thick sticky dregs of creation. Stimulated by the warmth of adulation, offered in platitude portions, they slowly slide in fatty globules down my monitor. As I stare, rabbit in the headlights, fixated by the honey and bile and spittle and rain dripping from pens of many shades, I trace letters in the residue trying to keep my fingers clean. But even my keyboard is swamped with worn letters, washed with the tears of passion's dirty laundry, as my washing machine lies idle.
