A Life In Film

A Life In Film

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Our lives are directed from somewhere by someone!

"

A Life In Film

In staggering, patchwork movie reels

my life plays out.

Not the main feature but some

art house creation

screened in a dingy cold, bare basement.

At least I had the lead role,

the romantic hero who gets, but loses

the girl,

time and bloody time again,

as scriptwriters chopped and changed.

But the director was no Nolan, Bergman or Lumet

as he misinterpreted the script

and led his actors

to the infamy

of cinematic collapse.

And the producers, The Studio, the editor,

they all had their say,

leaving me a jobbing actor,

forgotten and unemployed

on the cutting room floor

The tragedy in profession is well illustrated here. There is more to it.A perfect illustration by comparing life to a film and all its aspects....Well-written:)

A grand poem and wonderfully creative. Life does seem to be directed by higher hand, pre-ordained is the word that springs to mind and regretfully not always to our suiting.

'All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts,'... The Bard.

Beccy.

those scriptwriters can have the most damaging impact on life's stage and directors really only worry about the bottom line... this is great writing, John... very creative and full of emotion... one can't help but feel the heaviness in the chest when the final scene is done...

Thank you so very much FT
Sorry your scenes were cut. You could write your own script.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
