Mystic ApesA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenReality in this modern age.Mystic
Apes Hands across the global seas offer succour, offer refuge, pledge support. But we are all one of three monkeys as we deny the brutal truth that faces us each waking day. As we watch the despots multiply in plagues, and greedy politicians and oligarchs feeding off the misery of others, and simply sup our chic skinny lattés, our designer gins, and feel aggrieved that we missed Black Friday bargains. We console ourselves by watching endless reality shows or Netflix movies and mourn our team's inevitable slide into the relegation zone. And we sit, safe, on the sidelines packaging blankets of platitudes while suffering in all its brutal forms racks the innocent, the weak and the undefended. For love and good intentions will never deny the cause of evil men. 26/11/17 © 2017 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's Note
