Trump Vs Biden

Trump Vs Biden

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Now who to vote for.................................................?

"

Frenzied undignified

bickering,

like two aged gulls

all greyed, with plumped up

feathers, yellow beaks

powdered for the camera,

and sharp talon words

in a squabble

for morsels of half-truths,

and fake news.

Simply sound bite

screeching for the crumbs

off the lectern stand.

This is reality TV,

as sordid and as banal

as it gets

in front of the children,

rather than statesmen

in sober suits.

Two grown men,

less like leaders of

a first world nation, and

more like disgruntled,

drunk, old timers

arguing over

who won the war,

or the super bowl,

or who caught

the biggest pike.

Philadelphia watched,

a nation watched,

the world watched

this debacle;

this insult to true

and honest democracy.

Why thank you Dave, muchly!
Immediately after our prez debate, the foreign presses were rolling out scorn, but you've topped everything I've read put all together! This is hilarious & delightfully true. I am aghast that our seemingly only chance to get rid of a hateful dictator is to vote for an almost-octogenarian! What I wouldn't do for a breath of fresh politics over here, I'm a-tellin' ya! But I do have to say, Joe Biden has impressed me no end in the way he's navigated these shark-infested waters. He's finally gotten my confidence, despite my being lukewarm over the past year. If somehow we are stuck with another 4 years of s**t, I'm taking my magic carpet & riding to another planet that isn't immersed in human greed & vitriol. It's amazing I can still write funny poetry if the scene over here is as dismal as you paint it to be. But we know you're just avoiding your own country's slide into whatever (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

they are all demented geriatric or not!
I didn't watch it John although my grandson did and then told me about it. We have our own clowns over here, and I am doing my best at the moment not to watch too much politics. It just winds me up no end. This is a clever write and I can imagine from your words exactly how this panned out. Well done.

I don't know my friend. I would vote for Donald Duck over these two. A messy election and the USA, won't gain by either. I would go to Canada but they locked-out the dumb Americans. I don't blame Canada. We carry the coronaviras and hate with us. I am praying for better days. I enjoyed your words and thoughts John.

I agree my friend. Need a real person to be a leader.
It was a train wreck for sure. There was nothing about it that even remotely resembled a debate. A horror show and like you said we all eyes watching. Your poem says it like it is.

interesting.. Enjoy your break..
I didn't bother to watch the whole thing, but I saw a couple of highlight clips. It truly was a circus! Debates have been getting worse and worse over the years, and this one certainly takes the cake!

Here's a little song from many years ago you might like. I uploaded it to Youtube just because it wasn't there yet, David Rovics has all his music under a creative commons license, and I wanted people to be able to find it easily:

You always share awesome songs, so I'm glad I had one to return this time :)

Very witty, satirical and apt song from the heart of protest. Thanks for reading and sharing Kari.
