Mere Mortal.

Mere Mortal.

A Poem by Paul Bell

Ah, Timothy dear friend
Did she steal your heart
Cut you with those razor eyes of beauty
Break you in two
You’re just a man, mere mortal
Never in this world could you tie her down
No jewels, no cars, no house
Just free to take your soul
But you’ve been lucky dear friend
Bittersweet it may feel
No flesh to console
Just a heavy heart
Ah, Timothy dear friend
The game of love is cruel
But would you change it
No
We all want to be on
If only for a time
That beautiful journey.

Most get on the ride knowing of the inevitable crash. Hyper egos, Bitter words, astronomical expectations and razor sharp claws do the rest. Appreciated very much Paul!

Now, are razor sharp claws a nice pain.

It’s controlled pain. Depends on where and how deep we dig in :)

Would you be in a bad mood for deep digging.
Sort of, he didn't get me that ring I wanted.
oh how true ..so relateable Paul ... i am reminded of the first and only girl i asked to go steady with me .. she was a beauty and we had such fun together ... i was 16 .. all my friends were going steady and convinced me to ask her .. so i did .. and she took my little ring .. about 2 weeks later at a dance this big guy came up to me and handed me the ring and said.."Don't feel too bad about it...she did the same thing to me" ... he was an ex=-boyfriend ... the part of your poem that doesn't fit my own story is that i didn't really care...i never was a going steady kind of guy ..i had too much fun with lots of girls who were friends ;) but that pain of razor cutting eyes sure enough got me more than once before i found my love ... and surely that journey is one i would not ever change ... we do make it .. learn so much ... and are better for it .. so glad to read your poem this morning .. thanks for sharing
