A Poem by Paul Bell

How many bullets have you got left

Six

Phil

8

Tony

9

Billy

Full magazine

How have you managed that

When you come from a poor family you tend to hoard things

Wish I’d never asked now. We need ammo and fast

Well, see that bush out there, the one about 200 metres at 10 o’clock

Yeah, what about it

It was at 12 o’clock 250metres ago

And were you keeping this a secret or something

No, it was just when you mentioned we needed more ammo. Do you think we should surrender

You kidding, this lot like to chop things off you

Hate that, so unprofessional and to think we came here to help them. What the hell happened

I think they read the small print and realised we were stealing their country

When are we going to shoot the bush

Let him get to 50 metres and I’ll shoot him, you run down and get everything off him. Actually, you’re the guy with all the bullets, you shoot him I’ll run down and loot him

Wouldn’t it be great if he had a box of cream cakes on him

Yeah, it would be fantastic we could have a cake fight, Right get ready to shoot

Man, you wouldn’t believe it

What, no cream cakes

Worse than that, it was a woman

How am I ever going to live this down

Just pretend she’s your Ex, you were always promising to shoot her

That is so true, do you know you would make a great therapist

Well, this maybe a good time to change career, you pop down there and ask if anyone needs my help

Don’t think I need to, they appear to be getting ready to attack

That’s bad for you then

Why would that be

Cos you’re the guy with the full magazine

That just means I get to shoot more of them

I know, and when you get down to the last 5 bullets, you know what to do

Blast, knew that hoarding would be my downfall

Lucky guys! I'm still trying to get my hands on a full magazine. Actually, a basement full of full magazines. Too many exes sir. Too many unaid bills. They've asked me for this favor.

Why are exes so expensive, actually cheaper keeping them.

Yes but then I’m out travelling so much....
“Who’s on first? What’s on second? I-Don’t-Know’s on third base!” This hilarious banter so reminds me of that great bit by Abbot and Costello. Your sense of timing, precision and delivery is amazing Paul. You turned what could have been a tragedy, into a hilariously fumbled strategy. Still laughing!- could have used that cake about now though....drop mike.

Gyms will be going mental after lockdown is over, with me at the front of the queue.
Damn, now i wish this was a story. Not your typical poetry flow, so original.

"Wouldn’t it be great if he had a box of cream cakes on him,
Yeah, it would be fantastic we could have a cake fight, Right get ready to shoot..."
Loved the humor!

Lol! Sounds like a real incompetent F Troop, dear Paul! I am pretty sure that John Wayne wasn't a part of this group! Reading this made me think of all of those classic comedies of Abbott and Costello, where, no matter the situation, they always seemed to argue and make matters hilariously worse than they should be. That aside, this write just proves that it doesnt pay to be a hoarder! Another fun write, dear Paul. Your themes are always original and the banter within is always witty. Much enjoyed! :))
