The Woman Of God

The Woman Of God

A Poem by Paul Bell

It was the sound of sex

Sure it was

He remembered it from a far distant past

He passed her in the corridor sometimes

She would be good at it, he thought

Though it did confuse him the next night

She was dressed as a nun

Halloween she laughed

Time sure had passed him by

There was a time he thought

But that seemed a far distant past

He slightly remembered the sound of gunfire

The darkness till the bandages were removed

Life had been cruel going on from that day

He was never bitter though

Survivors had no right to be bitter

He knew his time was coming

His body told him so

In a way he was relieved

It was in the early hours he started to wander

He watched her coming towards him

A woman of god

It felt good as she spoke to him

Taking his pain

Delivering him into a new world

He died that way

A man finally at peace.

I don't know Paul. Some angels can be the devil pawn. I liked how you set-up this tale. Thank you for sharing the entertaining poetry.
