Nightmare's Clasp

Nightmare's Clasp

A Poem by Sharon Miller Bolander
"

Take a step inside a nightmare!

Nightmare's Clasp

Dreams and Nightmares

Terror's woven cloaks of black
To cover faces staring back;
With fury wrought in horror's fright
Souls of rage scream in the night.

In the web of dark deceit,
An evil lurks to draw fresh feet;
Night's demons lure their treasure finds---
Unsuspecting victims' minds.

Treachery fills icy eyes
Corrupted past what most surmise.
Who knows what's caught inside each shriek?
Foul intentions snare the meek.

Sanity's a fleeting gasp
When trapped within a bitter clasp;
Resentfulness replacing trust,
One more soul has turned to dust.

Souls of rage scream in the night
And, come the dawn, they're gone from sight.

I like your style here--haunting meets total class. Each word and your rhyming within brings your poem from darkest of dark to something so lovely. Your poem showcases your keen ability and excellent writing mix. Your ending is superb as well as your title.

You write these spooky poems, as well as you do others, Sharon. And, very well, I might add.
