Girl Behind The Mask

Girl Behind The Mask

A Chapter by LoveYourself

She spent countless years making this

mask that looks exactly like herself.

Her brown eyes shaped to perfection

her pale lips curled upward in a smile.

An attractive girl with a fair complexion

her features that of a Cherokee woman.

the eyes about as dark as the night itself

dark as night but shine bright like the sun.

She spent countless years making this mask

spent so long carving it to it's perfected state.

Now that the stressful times have begun to hit

all she has to do is put on the mask to hide behind.

No one notices the difference and life goes on

she cries behind the mask and all they see is a smile.

The lies hidden behind the mask is what is causing her pain

she doesn't quite realize it yet, she may never see it.

She spent countless years making this mask

trying to perfect it in every single way possible.

Yet it's still not enough and she continues to suffer

behind the mask that was meant to hide her pains.

Even though she doesn't know it, she seeks an aid

reaching out for help even though she wants to hide.

She'll continue to hide behind the mask till it comes,

will you be the one to help the girl behind the mask?

I can relate to this sooo much. It's terrible to feel absolutely trapped, and even worse when you truly can't escape. Amazing writing, It's not one of those poems you can, or want to stop reading although its so sad.
