Dear Future Husband

Dear Future Husband

A Poem by Elisa
"

Just some things I want my future husband to know before we meet...

"
Dear Future Husband,
I pray for you every day.
I pray that you're kind,
and brave,
and honest,
and faithful,
and sexy, which sums up everything I just mentioned.

Dear Future Husband,
Don't try to impress me.
If you see me raging mad,
or crying hysterically,
or with no makeup on,
and you're still in love with me,
That's impressive enough.

Dear Future Husband,
I rarely make promises
because I'm terrified of breaking them,
but I promise that when you get home from work,
I'll give you a kiss,
and let you pat my butt.
You're welcome.

Dear Future Husband,
Every ounce of love,
I can't give away now,
I put in a piggy bank
and save for when we're old,
and all we want to do
is eat cream puffs and cuddle.

Dear Future Husband,
The moon is full tonight.
I find it amazing that you'll see it too.
I hope, one day, when the moon doesn't glow
and the sky is so dark that you can't see a thing,
you can find some comfort in this little fact:
My love for you drives all darkness away.

Love this! It's very beautiful and straight from the heart. :)
Don't worry, he is out there. You will most likely find each other when it's least expected.

Your very welcome:)
this is really sweet, and disarmingly funny so as not to be saccharine. love 'pat my butt' - I mean, because it's good writing. Really though, it is. I think I'll be a bachelor till the 2030's, but this makes me hopeful even still

A poem which has the ability to bring out a warm smile from the reader. It has a lovely lightness of charm and a kind of sardonic innocence about it; like a child making wishes at bedtime. I say sardonic because I can't help feeling that there's a sense of sadness and hope intermingled somehow - I don't know, perhaps that's my interpretation of optimism. But hope wins the day, I think:
"Dear Future Husband,
The moon is full tonight.
I find it amazing that you'll see it too. "
That's lovely.
