~Things I Want to Remember~ (For Serah)

~Things I Want to Remember~ (For Serah)

A Poem by Pi Cee
"

When my mind dries out, and my hands curl like claws.

"

The tree outside the movie theater in the winter
My sister's name
Life in the light
My Prince
September
Last Halloween
My childhood Christmases and their Eves
The last time I spoke to my father
My secrets
Intuition
Institutions
That love exists
My early mornings
My scars
Those old summers

I want to remember the taste
of homemade pancakes
of sweet tea with just a little bit of milk
of freedom
of the sunshine

The smell
of summer
of falling leaves
of honeysuckle

The sound
of my sister's voice
of the first song ever written for me
of the kitchen during August birthdays

I want those bittersweet moments forever.

We all carry with us the memories of our life. Both good and bad. No matter how many steps we've walked from those moments, they still are kept safe in our mind, to replay when ever we need to walk memory lane.
With what little you have shared here, I can see that you have some wonderful memories, of some things and moments that have a special place inside you. It's okay to hold them tight, as long as they don't hold you from continuing to walk forward. =)
P.s. Homemade Pancakes = Yum! ;)

Memories, bittersweet or coated in happiness, are all fleeting. We age, we forget, things happen, they become buried. But it isn't the memory that really should be cherished, it is the emotions that the memories have imprinted onto you that should, in my opinion, be cherished over all.
