Mended...

Mended...

A Poem by Tori Jones

I am suffering from depression every second
Still trying to accept the fact
That I can be mended
And do not have to act
Like someone I'm not

For I am loved
And I do have meaning
And my existence must be
Of importance
Otherwise I wouldn't still be
Standing here breathing

I will overcome depression
And when I do
I will rejoice
For the Lord is good
And knows where I have stood
And where I will stand
Beforehand

There are others who feel the same
They feel as if they are standing in the rain
And feel like going completely insane
From making so many mistakes
And need to know what love feels like
So they can finally see
How unique they are
And find who they were meant to be

Drug addiction may hold you to the ground
But you need to stand up and fix your eyes
On the creator of all things
The one who spoke life into trees
For he is watching everything
No matter how hard you try to hide it
He'll always know
The things you are thinking and seeing
For he lives inside your being

If you are feeling hate let it go
For it is the devil trying to show
You lies and things you shouldn't do
So you will turn away from the things you know to be true
He tells you that you're worthless
And deserve no hope

But there is no truth I tell you
For I know what it's like
To seek guidance from life
And I fell far from the truth
So don't listen
Or you too
May be drug into the mess
And end up being depressed

So fix your eyes and find the truth
For you are loved
And there are many that appreciate you
Although you may not believe this to be true
You have purpose
So I encourage you to strive each day
To find happiness
And stop letting your heart be led astray

Healing is coming
And soon your wounds will be
Mended in time
You'll see...

Thanks, you too...
The very first thing to say n this poetry is I liked it so much...when one goes through expression it can only be that person who can understand that...it is actually crucial...but coming out of that is the real work...you work splendidly Tori...keepgoing

Thank you...
I think you sum this up perfectly within the first verse, that not only are you aware of the depression, which in my opinion is the only time we can begin to heal, but you are looking through the haze and seeing positivity as your goal. That doesn't sound like much, but to someone caught up in the storm, it is one of the biggest breakthroughs they can make, as it is the first sign of not letting yourself be defeated and categorised by one thing in your life. It makes total sense too if you look at it, because one facet of a person does not a story make, so why label it as such. It is but a part of us that you will overcome, as you go on to say in this finely written piece. Hope to see you at the finish line :)

Thank you for posting this comforting poem. Healing should descend upon the broken hearts. They shall be mended by the love from those who understand how to mend. Trying to let go of the hate, which is the Devil's bait, is the commencement when love is created, and the healing of heart is initiated. Nice work!

Thank you!
This is a fantastic poem and so true, why do so many people suffer from anxiety and depression? Beating themselves up everyday, it's a tough life but we have to find a way to keep spiritual energies high by doing good things. Also treating yourself, having a high opinion of yourself and self worth. Think about all the things you are good at, writing for one!! Well done, loved your poem
