Like a Sparrow

Like a Sparrow

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Like a Sparrow

In the dark of night,
she listens for his voice.

Her heart is light
upon every memory, she does rejoice.

Intent on every word,
her heart pays attention.

He is her world
at love’s mention.

Straitly, her love for him has arrowed
into the beautiful universe she now lives.

Like a sparrow,
she’s managed her best to give.

Flying despite the storm,
she spread open scarred wings,
unknowingly, she’d find his arms;
the song which her heart sings.

Following the great tune,
she sails upon her dreams.

No longer afraid to reach her truth,
she knows who she’s meant to be,

In the dark of night,
he’s still her choice.

Her dream ever in sight,
never to return void.
