Dear AndrewA Poem by Punkgyrl3Inspired after a Jack's Mannequin concert...
You sit at the piano A couple feet away I close my eyes and take a breath Then you begin to play The music starts to fill the air The sound swirls all around A smile spreads across my face Just one face in the crowd Many times I’ve heard the notes I know the words by heart Your fingers press the ivory keys You share with me your art With each line you pull me in I can’t help but to feel As if you wrote the words for me For only me to hear The drummer pounds a rhythmic beat My feet jump off the ground But when you slow the music down There’s silence all around I can’t tell you how I feel Or what your music means An emptiness inside me filled I show you with my screams When the speakers quiet down As it’s coming to a close It seems like just a moment passed Since the music began to flow You pack your bus and drive away Until next time dear friend I’ll keep your music playing loud Until we meet again.
