Stop Lying to Yourself

Stop Lying to Yourself

A Poem by QuothCorvid

Emotional bullshit
Have to do something that makes you feel special
You aren't special
You are just like the rest of us
Try to eek out an existence
Try to stay afloat
Try not to drown in the world
Stop lying to yourself
You aren't special
There are millions out there
They can do what you do
They are better at it too
Your unique thoughts have already been thought
Your love story has already been written
There is no surprise ending
We are all just slight variations of each other
Fairy tales aren't true
True love doesn't concur all
The battle between good and evil
Laughable
More like the battle with in
Make your decision
Change the world
No, change your world

This is a profound, emotionally gripping piece that thrusts deep into the psyche... What are we truly and what is real? Our perceptions? Our thoughts? Our feelings? Stirs the mind. So well done!

Hmmmm. This is an angry piece. Third person versus first; interesting idea for the type of subject matter. I understand the concept....like the Bible writer of Ecclesiastes, all is vanity. Everything under the sun remains unchanged.....it evokes both reality and concession of defeat at the same time. I'd like to think that our uniqueness at least makes us individual enough for expression.

Like the style. Will go read another. Hard to judge a writer from one piece.

Kudos

Wow!! a slap in the face reality, that could be directed toward yourself or someone close to you, it is very powerful, with no bullshit to dress it up. I like it.
