Ours

Ours

A Poem by Rachell R. Taylor

I’ve gone so many miles and still I’m in the same city

I don’t know if I like getting Déjà vu off of all my old routes home

Here and now becomes less permanent; it’s all soon to change

I’d appreciate some control

Each address a reset household; markings of my failures

I can’t promise I can make it work (promises are gifts humans should not possess)

But I will make something for you

I will work hard so you never share this worry, this shame, this blame someone can only give themselves

I will give you a home, and it will be no ones but ours.

I read this as a vow to a loved one; probably a child. Lamenting a life of upheavals and unsecurity and instability. It's very descriptive and it shares fears and worries with the reader quite well

Another profound piece! Reminds me of this series I'm writing where this little girl and mom moves town to town...She's wished her mother would say something like this. While you didn't say love anywhere in here, it tints this whole piece. It has a slow sadness to it, but at the end there is a ray of hope.

meaningful...tragic and sad though...like waching a beached whale give birth. One destined for a dismal, shamed, death - while providing an uncertain beginning for another...since life is so uncertain...and the only certainty we can truly give is a beginning and at some point or another - an end.

this poem has a lot of personal truth and meaning behind it. It explains the process which a lot of people have to go through in life.

Failure is a bitter pill. Don't be so fast to swollow it. At times to survive is all it takes to win...
