Monkey Around

Monkey Around

A Chapter by Raef C. Boylan
"

Feel a bit ill, silly seemed a good idea. This is written for a nonsense-rhyme contest.

"

Monkey sea, Monkey poo

Monkey see, Monkey shoo

Monkey C, Monkey A B who?

Bananas in pyjamas

Refuse to brush their teeth.

Why are bananas in pyjamas

When they neither dress nor sleep?

Baby bananas in pyjamas

Adorn Monkey fruit bowl;

So now bananas, skinless,

Fill Monkey belly hole.

Parent bananas find empty pyjamas

And declare war on Monkeys.

Conflict is always nonsensical;

Aye, like this verse, it's crazy.

Monkey sea, Monkey poo

Monkey see, Monkey shoo

Monkey C, Monkey A B who?

Banana herbs (they're not trees - ive watched QI) walk...did you know that? Well, they do in colombia but then a lot of weird s**t happens down there. lol. Im not sure about the fluidity of the third stanza:

Baby bananas in pyjamas
Adorn monkey fruit bowl(s)
Bananas now skinless (So skinless bananas)
Fill Monkey belly hole(s).

Parent bananas find empty pyjamas
Declare war on Monkeys
War always consists of nonsense - (war's always consistently nonsense)
And, like this verse, is crazy - (And like this verse, rarely rhymes)

Very funny my friend. Keep up the nonsense and good luck with the contest.

Brilliantly bonkers. I like the 'War always consists of nonsense' line, thrown in there like a discarded banana peel

CRAZY like a monkey butt! I liked it. My children say monkey butt all of the time and they think that it is funny. They even call the dog that on occasion. I do not think he looks anything like a monkey though. He looks more like a bull mastif.

It's very light-hearted. Interesting & cute. I like the idea that war is afoot upon the Monkeys & the bananas.
Yes indeedy, war is crazy. Very good work.

Had we still being in the seventies, this sure would have felt all right in a Monthy Python episode. It's just so funny, and I'm sitting here eating a banana already! How about that.

if this was a wonderful children's night time book I would want to be the one illustrating it! ooo a war between monkeys and bananas - how obscenely cool would that be..

only because I'm running with the kiddy book idea, i would like an extra verse or two about how the monkey/ banana war ensues - hilarity is guaranteed right?? and in the fourth stanza, i think poem would fit better than the word verse (only because I'm runnning.. well u get the picture)

i think i will follow your suit and be brave and some submit poems that i truely wonder if they work..

ta!

monkey poems
are the one thing
that got me to straighten up
as a wittle one
[minus the a*s whoopings]

arfarf

i think youre kids
would kick you in your godly no-no parts
haha
for reading this to them
once theyve grown and found the effects of
this bedtime ritual
to be nothing more
than unwanted

kidding

ummm

boylan,

you are silly.

If there's one thing poetry has lacked for many years, it's humour. When did we all get so serious? Love your piece, like a breath of fresh air.

Somewhere, Ogden Nash is smiling. Lighthearted, clever, flows well, rhymes naturally.
