Do you know?

Do you know?

A Poem by Candle in the wind

Do you know a clawing clammy pain

That keeps gnawing at your heart

Sits inside you stubbornly

Makes you numb and blank

Stare without seeing

Throbs at your temples

Tingles at your fingertips

Smarts in your eyes

Gets stuck in your throat

You try in vain

To submerge it with laughter

Mask it with a smile

Ease it with words

Fight back the tears

Or just let it flow

Scream in desperation

Diffuse it with logic

Share it with loved ones

Talk it out

Nothing seems to work

Guess you just wait till it goes

Do you know a remedy?

I think sometimes we get stuck in times of pain and it feels like we are in another dimension--a type of imprisonment. We wonder why it has to happen to us. In time we see the various reasons but the present is so tragically painful. Your picture with this is so heart wrenching! You really did an unbelievable thing with your poem by making the emotions real to the reader. Very intense and sends a haunting feeling up my spine, wishing I could help the pain.

Do I know a remedy? I think identifying the core problem is a good first step. I think the 'aura' of this is depression and finding out what causes this malaise is a world-wide problem usually solved by prescription drugs, which I don't believe do much good in the long term so finding the core of depression has to be the answer, also being around people who emit joy could help a person such as this. I have always known that I can't be around anyone who makes me feel bad about myself.
You have put the case in clear view and I believe very clear symptoms, a testament of good writing...
Cheers,

Wow, deep thoughts, you really do pose interesting questions here, I will have to think and maybe reply to this. We do all try so hard to make these feelings go away, in my view the lord is the answer..
Do you agree? I hope so.
Very nice poem Raj, much enjoyed

Oh God,
If someone knew the remedy for that, they would also hold the secret to life. It is the remnants of everyday life. It's only cure is to find passion in something...anything. Something that makes you feel the jolt of life. Take solace in the fact, it will always pass...given time. Great write. Rain..

Sounds somewhat like the pain I had after my husband passed away and you are so right, nothing helps, you just have to wait and live through it. Maybe the living through it is what makes us stronger. Wonderfully penned. Great job.

Ahhh yes. I very much understand your words. You filled that space of pain with such a portrait of stoic pain. There is no real way to stop the waves of pain or the numbness that alternates, but to distract ourselves with other thoughts, but even that is just a game, until the pain subsides. Beautifully written.

Sounds a lot like "emotional pain." I have been there so many times. Emotional pain leaves us with a deep gut retching pain and a deep inner knowing that we are hurting, but not always knowing what it stems from?? There is always a root cause. Many times it stems from repressed or unresolved anger. Just some thoughts from experience. Getting to the bottom of it can be a challenge but it is possible. :-)

I do not have a remedy.
In fact, I'm not even looking for one. For I do not think there is a way out of this.

The pain may fade with time but sometimes we do not let it go away completely.

The feeling is so well described. Great write.
