Demon Play

Demon Play

A Poem by Raven Starhawk

The skin I am in is the skin of sin
and the more I decay the more demons come out to play

A wasteland of impaired dreams is broken and better unspoken

For across a devil's brow I take a bow
and swim in a inferno ocean so dim

Hell is my eternal cell

Raven, you always grab my interest with your writing. The topics are always very cool and your writing really builds itself off the title. Being a Lovecraft fanatic, your work is some of my favorite on here. This poem caught my attention in the very first line. It reminded me of a book I'm reading called the Name of the Wind. Then I kept reading your poem and it brought me to the same feeling I got while reading Dante's Inferno. Altogether wonderful, I cant wait to see what else you come out with.

wow...I like how this poem is told from the point of view from a devilish creature!

It kinda makes this poem sound more abstract.

Bittersweet, almost...strange how words make you feel isn't it? This is condeming and yet liberating! Suffering and yet tolerating, settled in the knowledge of what is to come, what has past, awesome! xoxo
