Crystal Prism

Crystal Prism

A Poem by Raven Hawthorne

cast me out,
place me upon the water,
let me float until i'm home
I can see the sun is rising
but it's too late for me to fight.

My head is swarming
heart is broken
I won't be much for the light.

Cast me away,
place my soul in calm water,
let me sink back to my people
i can steel my heavy heart.

The worms inside my head have died,
their corpses form my thoughts,
they have rotten down to nothing,
my body's twitching afterthoughts,
black sludge clog my brain,
In their place the flies are bursting,
soot and ash will dust my chain.

watch me rise,
the waters crystal prism
my soul renewed, enchant
a summer song,
a dancing dreamer,
thought's lost but not forgot,
the bugs infest my head
i've seen the summer sun,
i've fought and i have won,
cannot let the waters take me
i can't let this war be over
i can't let this war me won.

the crystal ship sails over to me,
the sands of time will fall,
and though the bugs will stay within me,
i will heed the call.

cast away the doubt,
watch it sink beneath the tide,
i can't watch this world go under,
i can't afford to hide.
