A Poem by Timothy Ryan

When the walls come down
I have nowhere to hide
Just my screaming heartbeats
Nervous
With you on my mind
Open on up
And take a deep breath
There's nothing in the way now
Fighting the fire in my thoughts
Surely this is the end
Your name will be another scar
A reason not to trust
Another brick to build a wall
Only the smiles can save me now
The way you kiss my heart
And say everything's all right
How can I be strong
When I'm so broken inside
But a man's not a man
Till he's fought that fight
To keep the walls down
And let you inside

Wow! this was written so well! You want to keep walls up, but yet you want to take that step to tear them down, but nerves keep you stalled!

It takes courage to let those barriers down and to trust. I am reminded of that saying, "nothing ventured, nothing gained". This man knows, he has to try even though there are risks. Conveyed well and enjoyed.
