The Cafe

The Cafe

A Poem by Revery

There are histories here

and stories that were told

there are traces and shadows of yesterday

woven throughout photos on a wall

love and friendships wax and wane

in spite of our desire to

have them last and sustain

tomorrow pulls us here and there

as we fade away from here

some end with nasty bitter stain

memories are encased and set among dreams

I hold them dear wishing they

were all once again near

but time flows and I to

must down different roads go

The fire has burned and I'll

leave my words here like

glowing embers of my legacy

I can relate to this, for sure. When I see reviews that are several years old on my pieces it always takes me back. Especially if it is from a friend who has moved on from the Cafe.

Thank you for reading and commenting. I'm honored.
Great ending. This clearly articulates what we have done at The Cafe as a collective group.

You are a wise man . I can tell from your work.
You state the case so very well: there are 'traces and shadows of yesterday' in everything, like it or not. Guess they're lessons to be learned, good and bad. Thing is to walk the straight path, not keep changing direction, not veering from what and who you know is true rather than what you'd like truth to be.

Oh, I do like this so much. You've captured the essence of not only what goes on in the cafe, but in life, friendships, etc. in general. Well done my friend.

I like this a lot.To write about something mundane in everyday life, have it be a jewel of a piece, outstanding work.

Thank you for your review, I appreciate you taking time to read.
Bittersweet words...I feel this to the core... Truly heartfelt. This is an array of emotions, and I felt the glowing embers. Well penned expressions from the heart!
