Linger

Linger

A Poem by Revery
"

Dedicated to the love of my life.

"

As I think of you and me

I stop to look across
the placid water and
the quiet lulls my thoughts
into a slow state.

I linger in a feeling

and savor treasured memories,

and my head spins
with dulcet images
in lost reverie.

I notice that it is the shore
that gives boundary and definition
and it’s that boundary

that gives the water depth.

I’m reminded of
that brief moment in between
now and yesterday where
the desperate heart
yearned to feel.

Where I dreamt of
serendipitous tomorrows
floating into the silky lagoon
of my loneliness.

I only needed a simple ripple
to move me in this place,
to know your sultry touch
on the fabric
of my gossamer reality

Revery, I read your poems with my mind wide open ready to drink in every word. The ripple of the water and the touch of a woman.. such a sensual pairing. I can close my eyes and feel your words. I love when poetry does that to me. This poem is beautiful.

Very pretty. You managed to make this sweet and touching without being sappy. Very hard to accomplish with poetry, and that always ends up being a huge turn-off for me. Well done!

Thank you dear, I'm thrilled you enjoyed it.
Lovely write poignant and hopeful. Love the third and fourth stanza particularly and linger is the perfect title. Artwork complements words perfectly.

OH this is gorgeous!! I wanted to write about this very topic... yet you have written this in such an eloquent way, saying it all. I have been moved by many of your writings, but this truly floats on water of the "gossamer reality" that you have penned within the tapestry of your thoughts....this painted artistically...a Dreamy write!
