Lies

Lies

A Poem by Rhia Barton
"

My definition of Lies.

"
Lies:
Poison of the mouth,
Cure for the weak-minded.
Lies:
Strength for the frail,
Desperation for the victim.
Lies:
Kindness of a friend,
Jeering of the bully.
Lies:
Unorthodox compassion of a lover,
Usual teasing of an 'ex'.
Lies:
Told daily by the public,
Told monthly by the government.
Lies: The escape from reality.

I wrote this a good few years ago, and had posted it on other sites like Quizilla. Of course, everything I had on Quizilla is now gone (some of my best poems were on there), but I managed to find this on an old forgotten memory stick along with some other worthless shit like fanfiction I wrote when I was about 14. Ugh.

I like the theme of the poem. I love how you showed one side and followed by the other.

The internet is eternal - til it isn't... though sometimes you CAN track down saved copies of things.

This was a good view of the "levels" of understandings.

Repeated use of the theme.
I liked the way you re-emphasize the "Lies:" , a bit unique and different structure.
Thumbs up, for trying this style!

I like that you showed mirrored angles of 'sweet' and 'hurtful' in this poem :).
