Silver Eyes

Silver Eyes

A Poem by RileyD
"

Just something I casually wrote when I was bored.

"

Into the summer's night,

I howl grievingly.

You're losing your last fight,

Darkness absorbing you thievingly.

I remember when we danced together,

Beneath the autumn moon.

I remember when we sung together,

Beautifully as a loon.

I can't forget the hunger,

Starving near to death,

Or silently, solemnly grieving

Our pup's final breath.

The memories are fading

As you're breathing grows ever faint.

Your lovely eyes are dimming,

I know it is too late.

The precious, sacred liquid

Is seeping no longer.

The redness has stained the grass,

Along with your silky fur.

I know the time is here

When I must bid you farewell,

I let your struggles cease

Before my tears should swell.

I hope that, wherever you are,

You are safe and warm and alive.

I will never forget our time together,

My beautiful silver eyes...

This was amazing! Full of heart and emotion, each line pulsed with a power that can only be understood by that deep connection that's taken years to forge. Excellent Ink!
