Sound of Rain

Sound of Rain

A Poem by =

I didn't need my mother,
Or her words of judgement
Alongside her sullen stare,
As my mind embarked elsewhere.

I didn't need the food on my plate,
Even though every morsel sustained,
The very life I gave away, and shared,
In every waking moment.

I didn't need the roof above me,
The roof that protects me from
The world that I fear so,
And the pain that it contains.

I didn't need this b*****d world,
And the ever lasting sense
Of oppression, or the better times.
Or simple things, with simple friends.

I didn't need anything, you see,
We saw the sun leave the sky stained.
All I needed from that single moment,
Was you, and the sound of rain.

Love blinds us. It allows us to forget the cold of this world, if only for a moment.

A long flow of denials leading to the internal fire. Its an interesting work, the structure is good, the pace and form strong. Its unusual to see a piece that seems to lead in one direction and yet turns back on itself to a very different conclusion, at least one which accomplishes this well.

I just love this!!Like eyes wide open but blind to all, just the picture of desire, perfect longing tone.
I love this.......

Strong statements led to perfect ending.
"I didn't need anything, you see,
We saw the sun leave the sky stained.
All I needed from that single moment,
Was you, and the sound of rain."
I liked the above lines. Honest and true. Thank you Roy for sharing the excellent poetry.

Those moments with the one we truly love where we can just escape reality are really quite beautiful. You captured those feelings very nicely, it was subtle but strong. Another great job

Thank you so much!
The stanza breakdown was good, and the reading of it flowed very smoothly. All the different things we often have around us are just really not what we want deep down. I loved the last two lines the most. So when those kinds of moments do happen, be sure to cherish them.

Well done.
